EXECUTIVE BRIEF

The future course of the innovation society is fueled by two critical components - innovation and entrepreneurship. Their successful fusion is effectively transferring the global communities into a set of innovation societies that are moving rapidly toward an integrated uni-global economy, with challenges that will dramatically shape the face of humanity, and ensure that equitable benefits - poverty alleviation or eradication; improved health care; basic and higher education - are shared among all. 

An action plan will be offered on why innovation must be a key outcome for all public/private sectors and NGOs to seek through entrepreneurship - as one of the primary sources of global competitiveness. It will explore how leaders can set up the appropriate mechanisms and implement action plans to enter and succeed in developed and emerging markets, as well as to enable developing populations to leapfrog into the innovation age.

The goals of this leadership action plenary is to develop a 2010 action plan that addresses key opportunities in: 

Infrastructure & Competitiveness

  • What innovation practices have proved most effective in reshaping public sector competitiveness?
  • What is the role of multinationals in fueling the engines of society’s entrepreneurial growth?
  • What policy reform measures must be taken by the public sector to create the innovation society?

Knowledge & Development

  • How can knowledge work for the development of emerging populations? 
  • What collaborative actions are required to inspire and empower youths to face new global challenges? 

Disruptive Innovations

  • What disruptive innovations will create the most significant value on how societies collaborate?
  • How should organizations change their plans and approaches based on these new opportunities?

Growth Economy 

  • What are the key growth industries and markets through year 2010? And Why? 
  • What factors will affect the transition of growth industries from governments to the private sector through 2010?
  • What are the critical actions in the next three to five years?

Energy

  • Why must sustainable communities be the responsibility of both oil addict and oil producing nations? 
  • What are the emerging environmental trends through year 2010? And Why? 
  • How can oil-producing nations transform oil wealth into human capacity and private enterprise?

Geopolitics

  • What sociological, political, and demographic trends in major geographies are amplifying the impact of consumerization on the make-up of the Innovation Society?
